Starting in 2002, The Society of Indonesian Films (YMMFI) conducts a special program for documentary films, called In-Docs. In-Docs missions are to promote documentary as a medium to raise social awareness.
To do this In-Docs targets a variety of audiences: the general public, prospective and professional fimmakers. Through screenDocs! (film screening & discussion) and DocuBox (documentary on DVD), In-Docs aims to raise the appreciation of documentary film and increase awareness of the potential of the genre as an art form and a medium for social change. Through educational programs such as KickStart! (film workshop) and DOClinic (film clinic), In-Docs tries to increase filmmaking skills of Indonesian documentary filmmakers during a series of trainings. All of these means are needed to produce high quality Indonesian documentary films and an audience to enjoy them.
Currently In-Docs is funded by Ford Foundation and Hivos, and collaborates with Canopy Indonesia (Pontianak), F2PB (Bandung), Goethe-Institut (Jakarta), Importal (Semarang), Infis (Surabaya), Jalin (Palu), Kine Klub FISIP UNS (Surakarta), Kine Klub UMM (Malang), Kineruku (Bandung), Hitam-Putih (Padang), Komunitas Tikar Pandan (Banda Aceh), Langkan Budaya Taratak (Jambi), Movie Maker Community (Kendari), Rumah Ide (Makassar), Rumah Sinema (Yogyakarta), UKM Fotografi USU(Medan).
