In Addis Ababa, only women become street sweepers. It is a hard-working, low-level job. Some of these women are somewhat educated, but they have to support their families and have no other choice, so they took the job nonetheless.

Sunarti lives in a house at the bank of Jagir river with her husband, daughter, mother, sister, two brothers and nephew. As she is the only one who has a permanent job, she becomes the family's breadwinner, but the money she earns as a biscuit factory worker is never enough to fullfil the family's needs.
